Short one-off projects are often sought by schools to celebrate or support particular events such as Arts Week or the transition to Secondary School. Recent ones involving composition and song-writing have ranged from half or full day workshops devising music to longer residencies commissioning songs or musical works created by students working with composers, writers or librettists and/or animateurs.
Examples include:
Weavers Academy, Wellingborough:
2 day project to create school songs with Year 7 students
(Richard Taylor and Freya Wynn-Jones);
Firs Farm Primary School, Enfield:
3 day project commissioning a school song-cycle of 4 songs
(James Redwood and Hazel Gould);
Hackney New School, Hackney:
Engaging new students
(Omar Shahryar and Freya Wynn-Jones)
