She died in 1797 aged only twenty nine.<\/p>\n<div class=\"section-full-width section-custom parallax-scroll\" style=\"background-color:#f95a62;\"><div style=\"background-image:url(http:\/\/www.hmdt.org.uk\/hmdtmusic\/stemsisters\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/12\/Wang_Zhengi_001BG.png); opacity:0.1; filter: alpha(opacity=10);\" class=\"full-bg-image\" ><\/div><div class=\"section-boxed\" style=\"color:#ffffff;\"><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Fun facts<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>She was good at horse riding, archery and martial arts;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>She was well known for her poetry as well as her knowledge in maths and astronomy and left thirteen volumes of poetry (using a formal style called Ci), which was unusually simple and not like \u2018most women\u2019s use of flowery words\u2019;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>When studying the lunar eclipse, she placed a round table in a garden pavilion to represent the globe and hung a crystal lamp on a cord from the ceiling to represent the moon. On one side of the table she used a round mirror as the moon and moved them around to study astronomy. This was a new way of working for that time;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>She left a legacy about women\u2019s education and rights.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>In 1994, crater on Venus was named after her.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div><\/div>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>What\u2019s important about her scientific work?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">She was able to describe the relationship between the lunar and solar eclipses. She explored how the equinoxes move and how to calculate their movement. Her grandfather, a former governor of the Xuanhua District had over 75 bookshelves and taught her astronomy. Her father studied medical science and taught her medicine, geography and maths.
