HMDT Music has been creating unique, award-winning projects for schools since 1995. These include commissions of new works for students to perform supported by arts-embedded cross-curricular resources, bespoke workshops, creative projects, after-school clubs , whole school Commemoration Days and a wealth of materials.
Remembrance Day
Includes artefacts handling, looking at weapons, uniforms, and memorabilia and a Costumed Interpreter sharing experiences of life as a soldier, nurse or civilian in WW1 or WW2. Topics can include: Dunkirk, D-Day, The Home Front/Blitz, The Indian Army.
Black History Month
Explores different people through history including British West Indies Regiment soldiers in the First World War, Jackie Robinson who broke the colour barrier in baseball and Joe Louis who beat Nazi-nominated boxer Max Schmeling in 1938.
Holocaust Memorial Day
Uses children’s diaries, letters and poetry written in ghettos, in hiding and in camps, and artwork created in the camp of Terezin to introduce children to themes of the Holocaust in an accessible and meaningful way.
