Operaction Hackney:Learning Through the Arts is HMDT’s core Adult Learning initiative providing a fun way to learn through the arts. This award winning programme offers accredited Skills for Life courses from Entry Level to Level 2 in ESOL, Literacy, Numeracy and Creative Writing.

HMDT offers a wide range of classes of various levels in venues across the Borough, open to anyone wanting to improve their English or their reading, writing and mathematical skills. Each course follows a unique curriculum introducing class work through varied arts-based activities linked into HMDT’s other work during the year, which often include workshops with artists as well as visits to relevant museums and performances.
