Since its creation in 1995, HMDT has continued to offer excellence in music education, performance and training. Please note the following guidelines before contacting us, and we will be happy to assist you.

Information and Advice
HMDT is a central stop for people to get advice on how to achieve their own goals in the music business, music education and music making for fun. If you want to participate in music activities, and are skilled or a beginner, we may be able to help you to find the right group or tutor to suit your needs.

We act as an information service for music partners and arts organisations who want to work in Hackney, making it easier to network effectively and helping them to gain access to local communities, and provide some financial support and sustainability for projects in Hackney.

Project Proposals
HMDT runs over 20 music education projects each year, and is committed to long-term initiatives which produce creative and financial solutions to identified needs. Our strategies are formulated with a focus on sustainability – ensuring that music continues to be a part of Hackney’s heritage in a world of changing priorities and uncertain funding opportunities.

If you are looking for advice, logistical or financial support for a project in Hackney, we may be able to help you. Please telephone our office to discuss your proposal.

All requests require a written proposal and budget before they can be considered, and are dependent upon the availability of resources.

Job Opportunities
All of HMDT’s projects rely on the skills of trained musicians, tutors, project managers and other artists with varying expertise. If you are an artist interested in what we do, and have a skill you think would be of value, please write to us, enclosing your CV and a cover letter.

Please note that HMDT’s initiatives are generally planned at least two years in advance, so opportunities are not always readily available.

Student Placements
HMDT offers placements for students attending college or university, or those on arts courses or teacher training who wish to gain more experience in arts administration or production. Please contact our office for details on placements.
