HMDT Music seeks a bassoon teacher for the 2013-2014 season of its Saturday Programme, based in Hackney, which enriches the lives of young people through high quality, exciting music education and opportunities. The Instrumental strand of the Programme offers students ages 5 upwards, an extensive curriculum including group and individual instrumental tuition, singing, musicianship, ensembles, as well as orchestra and choirs. Its staff are all experienced and dynamic musicians and tutors able to foster an appreciation for a wide variety of musical genres and opportunities. The successful candidate will teach bassoon in small groups and individual lessons, as well as a few piano lessons (also in small groups or individual lessons) and might also teach a General Musicianship class. The ability to teach an additional instrument would also be an advantage. Responsibilities include planning the structure and repertoire for each lesson, monitoring student progress and contributing to student End of Year Reports, and working with the Music Manager to ensure the creation and quality delivery of an agreed Scheme of Work. You should have experience of working with children aged 5-14 in groups and individually, and have a high standard of bassoon and piano competency. The job will involve working on Saturdays between 9.00am and 2.15pm for 30 weeks each year from 28th September 2012 to 14th July 2014. Fee: £4,000 gross flat fee (on a self-employed basis). Hours are dependent on the range of additional instrumental skills, and the fee will be adjusted accordingly.
