Tutor Vacancy: Violin Coach

HMDT Music seeks an experienced musician to teach violin for the 2018-19 Season of its Saturday Programme. Based in Hackney, our Saturday Programme enriches the lives of young people through high quality, exciting music education and opportunities. The Instrumental strand of the Programme offers students ages 5 upwards, an extensive curriculum including group and individual instrumental tuition, singing, musicianship, ensembles, as well as orchestra and choirs. Its staff are all experienced and dynamic musicians and coaches able to foster an appreciation of a wide variety of musical genres and opportunities.

The successful candidate will teach violin from beginners upwards in both small group and individual lessons, and co-lead our string ensembles. You might also teach general musicianship or theory. You should be able to teach in a range of styles. Responsibilities include planning the structure and repertoire for each lesson, monitoring student progress and contributing to student End of Year Reports, and working with the Saturday Programme Coordinator to ensure the creation and quality delivery of an agreed Scheme of Work. You should have experience of working with children aged 5-14 in groups and individually. The post will involve working on Saturdays from 9.00am for approximately 5 hours for 10 weeks across the Autumn term from September 2018.

Fee: Up to £4,200.00 per year, dependent on hours (on a self-employed basis).

In addition to this, HMDT Music also runs bespoke projects, after school clubs and One Spirit, a rehabilitation and mentoring programme for young offenders at HMYOI Feltham.
